Chaperones - Chaperones assist with student supervision and safety. Chaperones are present at band camp, rehearsals, football games, competitions, and LGPE performances. Chaperoning is a great way to get to know the students, staff, and other parents. There are lots of chaperone slots to be filled throughout the year, so we appreciate having a large pool of chaperones willing to help! (Please note that district policy does not permit younger siblings of band students to accompany adult chaperones on CCSD buses.)

Hospitality - They say an army marches on its stomach, and the same is true for the Wheeler Bands. We feed our students and staff at many of our band events, from band camp to the end-of-year banquet. The meals and methods vary, but one thing is always true: we need volunteers to help keep our kids fed. It’s always very much appreciated!

Equipment Loaders & Props Crew - Volunteers are needed at Friday night football games and Saturday marching competitions (mid-August – late Oct./early Nov.) to help with show props and equipment. Help is also needed to load and unload items at the school before and after these events. Our VP of Operations coordinates the tasks, and the props volunteers work together to get the show on and off the field. It’s a fun and fast-paced gig!

Truck Drivers -We need a small team of fearless parents who are willing to drive the band’s equipment to Friday evening away football games and a few Saturday marching competitions in the fall. This volunteer position is vital to the Wildcat Pride’s success. No special driver’s license or extra personal insurance needed. Our equipment truck drivers are our heroes!

Uniforms - Uniform volunteers assist with fittings and other needs, beginning in preseason (July) and continuing through the final marching band competition (late Oct./early Nov.). They assist before and during football games and competitions with any uniform “emergencies”, as well as the distribution and storage of the all-important plumes. NO sewing skills required! This is a great opportunity to work directly with the students and help keep the band looking its best.

Biscuit Sales - We sell Chick-Fil-A biscuits at Wheeler in the mornings prior to school. For the 2025-2026 school year, our biscuit sales will take place every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:15-8:30. This is an important fundraiser for the band and a great volunteer opportunity for those who prefer an early-morning shift. We will need lots of volunteers to keep this fundraiser going. Biscuit sales run from August through May.

Parking Attendants – The Wheeler Bands Booster Club oversees parking at the home football games throughout the season (August – Oct.). Parking volunteers arrive at Wheeler by 6:30 PM and assist with taking payments and directing traffic. Volunteers receive admission to the football game and will be present in the stadium in time for the halftime show. (Please note that, for safety reasons, children cannot assist with parking or accompany our parking volunteers.)

Miscellaneous Fundraisers - We have fundraisers throughout the year to support our band programs and keep our students’ dues as low as possible. Be on the lookout for opportunities to assist with our various fundraising efforts.
